Profil Komitmen Dosen dalam Kegiatan Tridarma Perguruan Tinggi

Abstract


There is a phenomenon in Psychology of Unisba University, that the functional position owned by the lecturers is still low, about 62% is categorized into the skilled assistant. This condition is due to the inoptimality of the Three Pillars of Higher Education consisting of teaching, research, and public service conducted by the lecturers. The inoptimality is because of the more teaching burden that makes the lectures do not have more time to do the two other pillars. However, several lecturers are able to conduct the three pillars, therefore they can reach the hgher functional position. This research is directed to know the description of the commitment of the Phsychology Faculty lecturers in implementing the three pillars of higher education according to the commitement model of Meyer and Allen that consists of effectice commitment, continuance commitment, and normative commitment. The method used in this research is descriptive, with 36 research subjects, and the commitment measrument used is the theory of organizational commitmeny from Allen and Meyer. The results of the research show that in the teaching activity, 70 % of the lecturers show the ideal commitment profile with the high affective, low continuance, and high normative. Yet in the research activity only 19 % of the lecturers have the ideal commitment profile. This is due to the focus of their commitment, which until now is still more focused on teaching rather than the two others pillars, namely research and public service.
