https://ejournal.unisba.ac.id/index.php/mediator/article/view/10097
The number of older adults is significantly increasing globally. In Indonesia, the elderly represent a growing large proportion of the population. They form a thriving market for commercial products and services in this sense. On the other hand, the development of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has transformed people’s daily lives. The ability to use ICT is considered a prerequisite of the “Information Society.” However, the role of ICT in determining the quality of life (QOL) of the elderly has received less attention from existing studies and focuses more on medical technology. By reviewing and synthesizing the previous 20 kinds of literature between 2017-2022, this paper aims to examine the possibilities of the internet and ICT to improve the quality of life of the elderly and contribute to their social inclusion. This study found that using ICT and the internet reduces their loneliness and social isolation, increasing self-control, providing social support and leisure, and integrating them into society. In the process of adopting ICT and the internet, the elderly have barriers intrapersonal, interpersonally, structurally, and functionally.Dian Rousta FebryantiIrwansyah Irwansyah

https://ejournal.unisba.ac.id/index.php/mediator/article/view/10351
Reports in the mass and online media tend to present people with disabilities in an insufficient representation. When people with disabilities are portrayed in the news, they are often marked by the stigma attached by society. This shows the importance of directing the approach of journalists toward inclusive journalism. This research aims to examine how the representation of different abilities is portrayed in the local online media TribunSumsel.com. This research uses the framing analysis method of Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki. The results of the research show that many news of TribunSumsel.com presented a positive portrayal of people with different ability by avoiding the use of stereotypical language or phrases. However, in terms of news sources, this media more often used non-disabled sources, even in disability news. In other topics, people with disabilities were not involved as news sources. The use of images was still focused on people with physical disabilities, while other disabilities were not raised. In addition, the portrayal of people with different abilities as inspiring objects still stood out (inspiration porn). This result showed that the media still needs to apply the principles of inclusive journalism.Rindang Senja Andarini

https://ejournal.unisba.ac.id/index.php/mediator/article/view/10355
This research focuses on the problematic meaning of opinion leaders' views on the Dolly Bangkit community development program initiated by the Surabaya City Government in response to the conflict following the closure of Dolly's prostitution site in Surabaya. The problems are described from the opinion leader's point of view. This research uses a qualitative approach and phenomenological methods. The aim is to describe the experience of opinion leaders in dealing with the Dolly Bangkit program, which in turn shapes the meaning of the program. The results indicate that there are problems with the experience as well as the meaning. On the one hand, this program is interpreted as a helpful program to change the negative image of the Dolly area. On the other hand, opinion leaders also interpret this program as an imaging event by the Surabaya City Government officials to show that they are responsible for the closure. They also saw that there was a neglect of several essential things in the community development program, such as the participation or involvement of the target community and training that facilitate the target community in finding solutions, as well as aspects of equality.Clara Carolina WiyantoNanang Krisdinanto
