A Medicare Supplement (also called "Medigap Insurance") policy is private health insurance particularly created to supplement the Original Medicare Strategy. Medicare Supplement policies might likewise cover specific things that Medicare doesn't cover. A supplement policy is not a "Medicare Benefit" (like an HMO or PPO) since it's not a method to get Medicare advantages. In some states, like Texas or Louisiana, you may be able to purchase another type of Medicare Supplement policy called Medicare SELECT. Medicare SELECT policies normally cost less than other Medicare Supplement policies, however, if you do not use a Medicare SELECT health center or doctor for non-emergency services, you will have to pay some or all of what Medicare doesn't pay. |
