Scoping Review: Peran Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) dalam Terapi Regeneratif Peri-Implantitis
Abstract
Role of Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) in Peri-Implantitis Regenerative Therapy
Abstract
Peri-implantitis is an inflammation that results in bone loss surrounding an implant. Surgical management of peri-implantitis is intended to eliminate pathological peri-implant pockets or even regenerate bone defects. Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) is a human blood biomaterial consisting of platelet concentrate, fibrin matrix, cytokines, growth factors, and cells. Due to its regenerative potential, PRF may be useful in regenerating bone defects around the implant. This scoping review aims to describe the usage of PRF in peri-implantitis regenerative therapy. A scoping review method was conducted by analyzing published articles from 2013–2023 according to PRISMA guidelines. The search was carried out using Google Scholar. Three clinical trials were included in this review discussing the use of PRF in regenerative peri-implantitis therapy. Conclusion: PRF enhances the mid-term recovery process and bone regeneration in peri-implantitis due to its variation growth factor components.
