AKTIVITAS ANTIAKTERI EKSTRAK ETANOL BIJI DAN BUAH KUPA (Syzygium polichepalum (miq.) Merr.& perry) TERADAP BAKTERI PENYEBAB JERAWAT
Abstract
Jerawat (acne vulgaris) merupakan penyakit inflamasi kronis dan multifaktorial pada kulit dan unit pilosebasea, yang dapat disebabkan oleh bakteri Propionibacterium acnes, Staphylocccus epidermidis, dan Staphylococcus aureus. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui potensi antibakteri ekstrak etanol biji dan daging buah kupa (Syzygium polycephalum) terhadap bakteri penyebab jerawat. Pada penelitian dilakukan uji aktivitas antibakteri dengan menentukan nilai konsentrasi hambat minimum (KHM) dan diameter hambat ekstrak etanol biji dan daging buah kupa terhadap bakteri P. acnes, S. epidermidis, dan S. aureus menggunakan metode difusi agar. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa nilai KHM dan diameter hambat ekstrak etanol biji buah kupa terhadap bakteri P. acnes (1,56%; 18,9 ± 0,01 mm); S. epidermidis (0,78%; 8,3 ± 0,01 mm) dan S. aureus (3,13%; 8,5 ± 0,02 mm), sedangkan nilai KHM dan diameter hambat antibakteri ekstrak etanol daging buah kupa terhadap bakteri P. acnes (12,5%; 13,1 ± 0,03 mm); S. epidermidis 25%; 12,1 ± 0,09 mm) dan S. aureus (0,78%; 10,0 ± 0,03 mm). Potensi aktivitas ekstrak etanol biji dan daging buah kupa terhadap bakteri P. acnes, S. epidermidis, dan S. aureus termasuk ke dalam kategori sedang hingga kuat.
