Abstract

The Relationship between Age Factors of Young Adult Ego-Social Development and the Incidence of Depression in Health Care Workers at Solokanjeruk Public Health Center, Bandung District

Abstract
Depression has become a global disease burden and will be the largest contributor to disability in 2030. According to the results of Riskesdas 2018, the national prevalence of depression in young adults in Indonesia is 29.3% for moderate depression and 8.0% for severe depression. Young adulthood is a transition from adolescence to adulthood in the process of ego-social development, it makes the group vulnerable to mental problems, namely depression. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the age factor of young adults' ego-social development with the incidence of depression in health workers at the Solokanjeruk Public Health Center in August 2022. This research method is analytic observation with cross sectional design. The research subjects were 52 public health center officers at the Solokanjeruk Health Center who met the inclusion criteria, namely public health center officers who were health workers and had never been diagnosed with a mental disorder. The sample was selected by total sampling and had filled out the PHQ-9 questionnaire. The results of this study indicate that the incidence of depression is mostly found in the young adult group and there is no relationship between the age factor of ego-social development of young adults and the incidence of depression in health workers at the Solokanjeruk Public Health Center. The incidence of depression in health workers is not only influenced by age development, but is also influenced by protective factors, such as positive coping and good mental resilience.
