Abstract
Riset Kesehatan Dasar stated in 2018 that the prevalence of dental caries in Indonesia in children aged 5–9 years was 54%, and in children aged 10–12 years was 1.89%. Children do not know much about maintaining healthy teeth and mouth, so they can potentially damage dental tissue in the form of caries. Dental and oral health knowledge should be given from an early age. It is expected to influence children's behavior in maintaining healthy teeth and mouth. Objective to determine the effectiveness of dental and oral health education on oral health status and behavior in children aged 6–12 years. Scoping review analyzes published journals from 2018–2023 according to PRISMA guidelines. The search was carried out using Google Scholar. There were seven journals included, two journals showing the effect of dental health education on dental health status and behavior, three journals showing the effect of dental health education on dental health status, and two journals showing the effect of dental health education on behavior. In conclusion, dental health education improves dental and oral health status and children's behavior. The involvement of third parties and various educational media can increase learning effectiveness and help children better understand the information provided.
