Author Guidelines


(Manuscripts that do not adhere to the guidelines will be rejected / Naskah yang tidak mengikuti pedoman akan ditolak)

1. The manuscripts' content should be original—the result of research or community service, related to the theme of communication or media, and never be published/accepted for publication in other journals or publications. (Naskah harus asli hasil penelitian atau pengabdian masyarakat, terkait dengan tema komunikasi atau media, dan tidak pernah dipublikasikan/diterima untuk publikasi di jurnal atau publikasi lain.)

2. Manuscripts uses Bahasa (or English) should not be less than 4000 words and not more than 6000 words (excluding abstract, references, author(s)'s biodata, and acknowledgment). Manuscripts that do not adhere to this will not be considered for review. Each manuscript must have an abstract (between 150-200 words) and 3-5 keywords. Manuscripts in Bahasa must have an abstract and title in English with similar abstract content and abstract content needs to follow a specific guideline*** (Naskah menggunakan bahasa Indonesia (atau bahasa Inggris) tidak kurang dari 4000 kata dan tidak lebih dari 6000 kata (tidak termasuk abstrak, referensi, biodata penulis, dan pengakuan). Naskah yang tidak mematuhi ini tidak akan dipertimbangkan untuk ditinjau. Setiap naskah harus memiliki abstrak (antara 150-250 kata) dan 3-5 kata kunci. Naskah dalam Bahasa Indonesia harus memiliki abstrak dan judul dalam bahasa Inggris dengan isi abstrak yang serupa dan konten abstrak harus mengikuti pedoman tertentu***

3. All manuscripts must be typed in Microsoft Word with single spacing, Times New Roman, font 12. Margins are to be set at Normal (2.54cm all round) and paper sized at A4 (21 x 29.7cm).

4. The authors are required to send the manuscript in (.docx) format. (Penulis wajib mengirimkan naskah dalam format word (.docx).)

5. The writing systematics includes:

  • (a) Title with no more than 12 words—either in English or Bahasa Indonesia
  • (b) Author(s)'s Name,
  • (c) Author(s)'s Affiliation,
  • (d) Author(s)'s E-mail Address,
  • (e) contact person
  • (f) Abstracts between 150 - 200 words followed by 3-5 keywords; it contains research problem(s), objectives, methods, concepts, discussions, and results.
  • (g) Introduction, which includes interesting points and a brief formulation of the research context, clear and specific research objectives, and literature review,
  • (h) Methodology, which is presented in paragraph form regarding the study design, data sources, data collection techniques, and real-data analysis conducted by the researchers,
  • (i) Results and Discussion, which explains the analysis of research data and research questions,
  • (j) Conclusion is not a summary. You shouldn't repeat the same descriptive sentence. This should contain a statement(s) that makes a real contribution to the related field of science. It may also serve as reference material and material for theoretical evaluation for further similar research/articles,
  • (k) References, must be primary and up-to-date 
  • (l) Acknowledgments with no more than 100 words.

6. References. Expect a minimum of 20 references, primarily with a minimum of 80% from journals and 20% from textbooks/e-books and secondary data. (referensi minimal 20, dengan minimal 80% dari jurnal bereputasi dan 20% dari buku teks/e-book dan data sekunder.)

7. References are arranged in the APA (American Psychological Association) style alphabetically using Recommended tools such as Mendeley software.

8. Figures and Tables are given a caption following the text's description and must be mentioned in the paragraph. (Gambar dan Tabel diberi keterangan sesuai deskripsi teks dan harus disebutkan dalam paragraf, hindari penggunaan kalimat: Tabel/Gambar di bawah ini..; Tabel/Gambar berikut ini..; dst)

9. The authors are to check manuscripts for accuracy of language before submitting them to the journal. The Editorial Board will not edit submitted manuscripts for style or language (Please refer to the template given below)*** (Penulis harus memeriksa naskah untuk keakuratan bahasa sebelum mengirimkannya ke jurnal. Dewan Editorial tidak akan mengedit naskah yang dikirimkan untuk gaya atau bahasa (Silakan merujuk ke template yang diberikan di bawah ini)***)

10. Manuscripts submitted to Mediator: Jurnal Komunikasi must not be under consideration for publication elsewhere, either in electronic or printed form. The corresponding author should declare this when submitting the paper to the Chief Editor.

11. Mediator: Jurnal Komunikasi retains the right to distribute accepted manuscripts electronically, but the authors will retain their copyright. If authors wish to republish the article, they must write to the Chief Editor and acknowledge Mediator: Jurnal Komunikasi as the original publisher.

12. Authors are expected to proofread their work before submitting manuscripts carefully ***

13. The Editorial Board reserves the right to make editorial changes to any manuscript accepted for publication to enhance clarity and style. Endnotes and footnotes are not encouraged. (Catatan akhir dan catatan kaki tidak dianjurkan.)

14. Attach a letter of originality when submitting it in the supplementary column.   • Manuscripts that do not adhere to any of the SUBMISSION GUIDELINES will not be considered for review. Please adhere to the guideline listed to prevent rejection or resubmitting. Sent a PDF file also will be not accepted as the file type cannot be edited for the review process.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).

  2. The submission file is in Microsoft Word (prefer), OpenOffice, or RTF document file format. PDF format for completeness form only.
  3. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  4. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  5. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Article Publication: 100.00 (USD)

Starting from Volume 15 of Mediator Online Publication, every article passing all review sessions and revisions requires a publication process and DOI registration fees of IDR 1.500.000.
